Students at William L. Buck School put their writing talents on display during the school’s annual Poetry Contest.

Held as a celebration of creativity and self-expression, the contest highlighted the imagination, originality and passion of student writers from several grade levels. Participants shared poems exploring a variety of themes, emotions and perspectives.

According to teachers and staff, the event provided students with a meaningful opportunity to develop their writing skills and express themselves through poetry. School staff also praised students for their enthusiasm and commitment throughout the writing process.

The annual contest continues to serve as a way to promote literacy, creativity and a love of language within the district’s community.

“We are incredibly proud of our student poets for sharing their voices and talents through this year’s contest,” Superintendent of Schools Unal Karakas said. “Events like this highlight the creativity of our students and reinforce the importance of fostering confidence, communication and artistic expression in our schools.”

The annual Poetry Contest remains a cherished tradition at the school, inspiring students to explore the power of words while celebrating the arts and academic achievement. The event was led by Karen Mylan and the district’s reading interventionists.
