Woman seriously injured in Vallery Stream car crash

A woman was severely injured in a two-car crash in Valley Stream at 3:44 p.m. on Jan. 6, Nassau police said.

The woman, 98, was driving a 2023 Mercedes-Benz traveling south on Hungry Harbor Road before making a left turn onto Brookfield Field, according to police.

Her car then crashed into a 2005 Nissan heading north on Hungry Harbor Road. The Mercedes-Benz then struck a tree, police. She suffered what the police called “severe trauma” to the lower portion of both her legs.

Police placed tourniquets on both legs in an effort to stop the excessive bleeding. The woman was taken to a local hospital. As of press time, she was listed in stable condition.

The driver of the Nissan, 24, remained at the scene. She was not injured.

Police said the investigation is continuing.
