Crime Watch: Burglary, larceny

Burglary
    Detectives with the Nassau County Police Department’s Fifth Precinct reported that two homes and a business in West Hempstead were burglarized earlier this month. A Cedar Street house was burglarized between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. on Aug. 10, and a house on Linden Street between 8:30 and 9:15 p.m. on Aug. 12. Also on Aug. 12, West Hempstead Beverage, which is located on Hempstead Turnpike, was burglarized around 2:15 a.m.

Grand Larceny — Motor vehicle, tires and rims

    According to police, a car parked on Hempstead Turnpike was stolen between 4:30 and 10 a.m. on Aug. 7. Tires and rims were taken from a car parked on Richard Street in West Hempstead between 9:30 p.m. on Aug. 8 and 6:30 a.m. on Aug. 9. Two tires and rims were also stolen from a car parked on Nightingale Road in West Hempstead between 7:30 p.m. on Aug. 11 and 9 a.m. on Aug. 12. Another tire and rim set were stolen from a car between 9 p.m. on Aug. 13 and 9:30 a.m. the next day. Police did not specify the location of that car.


Theft Offenses

    In two separate incidents, various items were stolen from cars parked in West Hempstead, according to detectives. A GPS was taken from a car parked on Holt Street between 11 p.m. on Aug. 8 and 8:45 a.m. the next day, while a laptop was taken from a car parked on St. Pauls Place between 2 and 10 a.m. on Aug. 9.
