Forum on redistricting
The Southwest Nassau League of Women Voters will be joining other Leagues across New York state on Monday, Nov. 22, at 1 p.m. at the Hewlett-Woodmere Library to present a community forum on the issue of redistricting: what it means and how it affects us as voters. The League has had a long-standing position that advocates for an independent redistricting commission whose mission will be to remain impartial and non-partisan. The public is welcome to attend and participate.

NAACP membership meeting
The NAACP Lakeview branch will hold a general membership meeting for the purpose of electing officers and at-large executive committee members on Tuesday, Nov. 23, at 8 p.m. at St. Paul AME Church, located at 453 Pershing Blvd. in Rockville Centre. Call (516) 764-5537 for more information.

Meet Mr. Raymond
The Malverne Historical & Preservation Society, located at 369 Ocean Ave., proudly presents the artwork of Arthur Raymond for one weekend only. Come meet Mr. Raymond, a member of the Art League of Nassau County, on Saturday, Nov. 20, and Sunday, Nov. 21, from noon to 3 p.m. Light refreshments will be served.

Craft and vendor fair
Valley Stream North High School is having its 10th Annual Craft and Vendor Fair on Sunday, Nov. 21, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 750 Herman Ave, Franklin Square. Many vendors will have handcrafted or new items. This will be a great opportunity to do holiday shopping. Ample parking and refreshments are available. Still accepting vendors. A discussion on hearing
On Tuesday, Nov. 23, at 7:30 p.m., the Hearing Loss Association of America will meet at the Oceanside Public Library, located at 30 Davison Ave, to hear a leading doctor of audiology discuss living better with hearing loss. The event is free. Call (516) 763-7444 for more information.

Merrick Theatre presents 'Annie'
For the holiday season, the Merrick Theatre & Center for the Arts, located at 2222 Hewlett Ave., will present the Tony Award-winning classical musical "Annie" from Nov. 27 through Jan. 2. Tickets for the shows, which will run on Fridays and Saturdays at 8:30 p.m., and on Sundays at 3 p.m., are $20. Students' and seniors' discount price is $16 on Fridays and Sundays.

Holiday house tour
Come and explore Malverne's most picturesque homes as The Malverne Civic Association presents the Malverne Holiday House Tour on Dec. 11 from 5 to 8 p.m. Tickets are $25. Good cheer and tidings of the season abound as homeowners in our quaint village invite you and yours inside their charming residences that have been lovingly decked with festive holiday décor. Aglow Lighthouse meeting
Hempstead Aglow Lighthouse invites you to join us for the Aglow meeting on Saturday, Dec. 11, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Trinity Hospitality Center, located at 275 Locust St. in West Hempstead. Mystery theatre
The Knights of Columbus St.Mary's Maris Stella Council 2228, located at 78 Hempstead Ave. on Lynbrook, will host  a night of mystery dinner theatre on Saturday, Jan. 29, from 8 p.m. to midnight. The "Knights of the round-table conspiracies" admission fee is $50 per person, or two for $90, which includes full buffet, beer, wine and soda, dancing and a night of mystery theatre. Free medical equipment
The National Amputation Foundation, located at 40 Church St. in Malverne, has a free donated durable medical equipment give-a-way program open to anyone in need. Equipment includes wheelchairs, walkers, shower chairs, commodes, crutches and canes. Items must be picked up at the office. Please call (516) 887-3600 for more information.

Holiday Craft Fair
St. Thomas the Apostle will hold its 28th Annual Holiday Craft Fair on Saturday, Nov. 29, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the St. Thomas the Apostle School, located at 12 Westminster Road. Malverne Menorah Lighting
Join the Malverne Jewish Center and the Village of Malverne for the annual Chanukah Menorah Lighting ceremony at Chester A. Reese Memorial Park by Village Hall on Wednesday, Dec. 1, at 5:45 p.m.

Chanukah Party
Join the Malverne Jewish Center for its annual Chanukah dinner and party on Sunday, Dec. 5, at 5 p.m. in the garden room. There will be a communal candle lighting, deli dinner and desserts, games and prizes, dreidels on the tables and songs led by Rabbi Dvir. Second annual auction
Congregation Beth Israel will be holding its Second Annual Restaurant Auction on Sunday, Nov. 21. Viewing of the list of more than 125 Long Island Restaurants for the live auction will be at 12:30 p.m. and the auction will begin at 2 p.m.  There will be a silent auction and bidding on these gift certificates. Teen yoga
Kids ages 11 to 17 can join the library for teen yoga on Mondays, Dec. 6 and 13, from 7 to 8 p.m. to participate in a free program that is about more than just physical exercise. Yoga also develops mental calmness and confidence. The class will be taught by certified yoga teacher, MaryClare Chiofalo. Please wear loose, comfortable clothing and bring a mat or towel.

Stories and More Thursdays
Children between the ages of 3 and 7 can come to the library to hear stories and play games, make crafts and more. This Stories and More Thursdays program will take place on Thursdays in November and December from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Please register in advance by calling or visiting.

Preschool activity time
Children ages 2 to 5 can interact with the librarian and other children, read stories, play games, make crafts and enjoy playtime at the library's Preschool-Daycare Acitivity Time program, which will be held on Wednesdays and Fridays in November and December from 11 a.m. to noon. Library tours for children
Children in grades 6 and under and their families are encouraged to come see all that the library has to offer. Get acquainted with our collection of books, databases, movies and services and see just how valuable the library is on Wednesday, Dec. 22, from 5 to 6 p.m. Please register in advance.

Thanksgiving treats

Holiday story crafts
Come and celebrate the holidays with stories and crafts. This program is for children between the ages of 5 and 11 and will be held on Nov. 23 and Dec. 21 from 6 to 7 p.m. Register in advance.

Game days
Children in grades 6 and under can join us for some friendly competition for game days on Wednesdays from 4 to 5 p.m. We will play Bingo on Nov. 24 and Dec. 15. Prizes will be given out. Please register in advance by calling or visiting.

Arts and crafts for kids
Children between the ages of 3 and 11 can come to the library to show off their creative talents in our arts and crafts sessions on Fridays in November and December from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. Be sure to come to our Holiday Mail for Heroes session on Dec. 3 to help make the holiday of a hero special by making them a holiday card. Teen empowerment
Teens in grades 7 to 12 can join Miss V. (Vera Miles) to build self-esteem, make healthy choices and learn how to reach goals. Meetings are Nov. 23 and Dec. 8, 14, 15 and 22. Register in advance.

Girls mentoring program
A mentoring program for girls between the ages 12 and 16 will have sessions on Saturdays, Nov. 20 and Dec. 4 and 18. Sponsored by First Things First for Health and Wellness and the Lakeview Public Library. Registration required.

Teen Advisory Group
Teens in grades 7 to 12 are encouraged to come have their voices heard and impact future programming, activities and collection acquisitions by joining the librarian and peers and becoming a valuable member of the Teen Advisory Group. The meeting will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 23 from 4 to 5 p.m.

TeenTalk book discussion
"The Mourning Wars" by Karen Steinmetz will be discussed on Monday, Nov. 29 from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. In this book, Eunice Williams is only seven when her Puritan village of Deerfield, Mass., is attacked by the Mohawk Indians. Captured, she is raised by a couple whose own daughter died. Years pass and she is raised as a member of the tribe. What will her decision be when her father wants her back? Discuss this and more with peers and the librarian while enjoying snacks. Books available starting Nov. 5.

Be yourself teen/tween guidance
Topics that will be discussed during the Be Yourself teen-tween guidance program include the teenage brain, why bullies bully, how to develop character and knowing your potential and possibilities. This program will take place on Tuesday, Dec. 7 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. and is for children in grades 5 to 12. Register by Dec. 1.

Wednesday Morning Brunch
Join the library for brunch on Wednesdays mornings from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Register to participate on Dec. 1, 15 and 29.

Calling Authors & Poets: If you are an author or poet we would like to know and feature you and your book or poem in our library.

Beginner golf
