Posted

Neil Israel leads a purpose-driven life. It's what has helped him succeed and earned him the prestigious title of salutatorian of the class of 2010 at West Hempstead High School.
Determined, consistent and passionate about his intellectual pursuits, Neil has maintained an A+ average throughout his high school career, during which he always signed on for the most rigorous course work. But more than that, his dedication to community service has earned him the recognition of one who cares about more than grade — he cares about people.
When he's not with his teen peers at schools, Neil works with teens and preteens at his church, where he is a youth counselor and mentor. He finds it rewarding to go camping and take part in character-building activities. It more so, he enjoys helping the kids face and work through their challenges.
Neil also participates in his church's efforts to collect and distribute food during the holiday season. But his favorite church activity is playing the piano: it gives him a sense of empowerment. Neil's been playing the piano for nine years and is extremely passionate about music.
When he's not working with the church, Neil spends time with West Hempstead High School's stage and concert bands. He's also the treasurer of the Tri-M national music honor society. Neil further splits his time participating in activities of the Key Club and the Friends of Rachel Club.
Neil plans to pursue a career in medicine at the University of Albany in the fall. He is preparing to become a band drum major.all to pursue a career in actuarial science.
