Veterans, their families and community members gathered at Eisenhower Park on Aug. 1 for Nassau County’s 39th annual Salute to Veterans ceremony and concert.

The event, held at the park’s Lakeside Theatre in East Meadow, recognized local veterans and honored the service and sacrifices of those who have served in the U.S. armed forces. The annual celebration brought residents together to show their appreciation for veterans and their contributions to the country and their communities.

Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman and Ralph Esposito, director of the Nassau County Veterans Service Agency, hosted the event, which included a ceremony recognizing this year’s veteran honorees.

Following the ceremony, attendees were treated to live music from The American Bombshells, a group known for performing for and supporting veterans, active-duty military members and their families. Desert Highway, an Eagles tribute band, also took the stage during the evening concert.

The Salute to Veterans is an annual Nassau County tradition designed to recognize local veterans while giving residents an opportunity to gather in their honor.
