Lynbrook firefighters extinguished a working car fire right outside of Atria Assisted Living on Sunrise Highway.
The first responders, led by Chief Danny Ambrosio, responded to the car fire on Dec. 13 in the early hours of the evening. The fire had fully engulfed the car when Vulcan Company 2 used a hose line to attack the blaze. When the gas tank let go, sending burning gasoline flowing into the gutter, Engine Company 1 added a second hose to the mix.
When the fire was extinguished Truck Company members overhauled what was left of the vehicle. Firefighters were on the scene for over an hour.
