Hurricane Irene wreaks havoc in the Five Towns

Though Hurricane Irene was downgraded from a category 2 to a category 1 hurricane, it struck the Five Towns with strong winds and torrential rain that produced flooding, knocked down trees, caused homeowners and businesses to lose power, while wreaking havoc with train service, airport departures and arrivals, and car travel.
