Schools and libraries closed in the Five Towns

Warming center open in Cedarhurst

The Hewlett-Woodmere and Lawrence school districts and the Hewlett-Woodmere and Peninsula public libraries are closed today due to the snowstorm.

The Brandeis School in Lawrence, the Five Towns Early Learning Center in Inwood and Lawrence Woodmere Academy in Woodmere are all closed.

All divisions of the Hebrew Academy of Long Beach, including Davis Renov Stahler High School for Boys and Stella K. Abraham High School Girls are closed today.

Peninsula library's art program was cancelled as well as all busing in Lawrence and after-school activities in both districts.

A Town of Hempstead-sponsored warming center is open until 4:45 p.m. today at the Cedarhurst Senior Center in Village Gall at 200 Cedarhurst Ave. in Cedarhurst. Coffee will be available.

Approximately two inches has fallen already in the Five Towns. Heavy snow, mixing with sleet or freezing rain is expected 9 a.m. Temperatures are forecast to be in the mid 30s. Northeast winds of 25 to 30 mph are expected, along with additional snowfall of one to two inches through 1:30 p.m.
