Arrests

  • Deborah Wray, 55, of Freeport, was arrested at Kohl's, 3600 Long Beach Road in Oceanside, on June 30 and charged with shoplifting.
  • Eric Altman, 23, of Long Beach, was arrested on Austin Boulevard in Island Park on June 30 and charged with driving while intoxicated. According to police, Altman was driving with a blood-alcohol level of .15 percent and with a revoked license.
  • Nastacia Bendler, 20, of Oceanside, was arrested on May 26 and charged with larceny. According to police, Bendler, a cashier at Pet Supplies Plus, 3644 Long Beach Road in Oceanside, charged only a fraction of the full price for assorted items to her roommate.
  • Stephanie Serna, 20, and Emely Espinal, 17, both of Copiague, and Lina Afanador, 18, Diana Ortiz, 16, and Deborah Leiva, 19, all of Brentwood, were all arrested on July 4 at the Hess gas station, 4295 Austin Boulevard in Island Park, and charged with robbery. According to police, the five girls approached two female victims and a verbal argument became physical. Police say the five started punching and kicking the victims and stole a cell phone from one of the victims.
  • Alexandra Weiner, 20, of Oceanside, was arrested on July 3 on Harold Street in Oceanside on an open warrant issued for larceny.


DWI

  • Brianna Swenson, 18, of Freeport, was arrested on Long Beach Road in Oceanside on July 5 and charged with driving while intoxicated.
  • Jacqueline Ioli, 19, of Oceanside, was arrested on July 2 on Oceanside Road in Oceanside and charged with driving while impaired.


Larceny

  • Upon reviewing records, the store security at Kohl's, 3600 Long Beach Road in Oceanside, confirmed that a known customer used a fraudulent credit card for the purchase of assorted gift cards.
  • Following an altercation on Beech Street in Island Park on July 4, a suspect took a victim's bag, containing an ATM card and cash. The items were later recovered in a vehicle at the scene.
  • Assorted jewelry and prescription drugs were taken from an apartment on Long Beach Road in Oceanside on June 25 while the victim was in jail.
  • A suspect attempted to return 2 Dutch ovens that she previously removed from the shelves of Bed Bath & Beyond, 3640 Long Beach Road in Oceanside, on June 29. When the process of refunding the money was not quick enough for her, she took the ovens and exited the store.
  • Two suspects, one male and one female, were observed by the clerk at Rite Aid, 3199 Long Beach Road in Oceanside, placing assorted hair products in their pockets on June 29. When the clerk attempted to stop them from leaving the store, the two pushed her out of the way and left.
  • Two kayaks were taken from a dock on Rose Street in Oceanside on June 30.


Fire

  • Assorted garbage was set on fire by an unknown person on Baker Court in Island Park on July 2, causing damage to a fence.
