How about some post-July Fourth sparklers? In case you haven't had enough yet, the fireworks continue to glow in Rockville Centre and Long Beach.
Rockville Centre Holiday Celebration
The Village of Rockville Centre celebrates its anniversary with its annual fireworks display on Saturday, July 7, in Centennial Park near Mill River. The show starts at 6 p.m. as families and friends gather in the park to enjoy food and entertainment. The concert with the South Shore Symphony, and performances by local dancers will begin before dusk and soon after sunset, at about 9:15 p.m, the fireworks spectacular, courtesy of Grucci, starts. Hear pops music, patriotic standards and classics at their best, performed by the many talented local musicians who comprise the prestigious orchestra.
The symphony’s music will also be heard during the light show. “This year the fireworks by Grucci will again be set to music, a recording of the South Shore Symphony Orchestra. We’ll again have speakers on both sides of the river running the length of the park. We’ll attempt to videotape the fireworks, a difficult thing to do, to televise them for residents. We’re also planning to have vendors who will sell food at the event, and we’re expecting the evening to be bigger and even better than it was last year, ” said Mary Beth Kearns, chairwoman of the village’s Fireworks Committee.
