Lawrence, Lynbrook host night games

A week after the first batch of power rankings were released for Nassau County football, there's bound to be some shift in the standings come Saturday night.

Week 5 kicks off with a Conference III game under the lights Friday on Lawrence's new turf field. The Golden Tornadoes, coming off a victory at Bethpage, take on Plainedge at 6:15 p.m. Also on Friday night is a Conference I showdown between undefeated Oceanside and top-seeded Farmingdale at 6:30 p.m.. The Dalers will try to slow down the visiting Sailors, who have scored at least 34 points in every game.

Saturday's action features battles of the No. 2 and 3 seeds in each conference. In Conference II, Carey visits Wantagh in a 3 p.m. battle of 4-0 teams, and unbeaten Hewlett travels to unbeaten Lynbrook for a 6:30 p.m. kickoff at Marion Street. East Rockaway goes to Roosevelt in Conference IV, and Freeport is at Syosset in Conference I.

Other notable Conference II matchups at 3 p.m. on Saturday has Elmont heading to Garden City, Mepham looking for its fourth straight win at home against New Hyde Park, and Valley Stream Central hosting Kennedy at Firemen's Field. In Conference III, South Side entertains Manhasset, while West Hempstead seeks to get over .500 against Bethpage.
