HS football: Week 7

Posted

The No. 1 and 2 seeds in each conference lock horns on the Nassau County gridiron in Week 7, including in Lawrence where the defending Conference III champion Golden Tornadoes take on Lynbrook on Saturday at 1:30 p.m.

The Owls, who beat Lawrence during the regular season in 2009 but were blown out in the title game, are one of five remaining undefeated teams in the county and can secure the No. 1 seed for the playoffs with a win.

Three-time defending Nassau Conference IV champion Seaford hosts Roosevelt on Friday at 7 p.m. in the lone showdown of 6-0 teams. Also in Conference IV under the Friday night lights, third-place East Rockaway goes to Island Trees. In Conference II, Valley Stream Central (3-3) will try to improve its playoff chances when it visits Westbury.

Pivotal Conference II games on Saturday feature Carey (6-0) traveling to Mepham (5-1), Elmont hosting Long Beach, Calhoun home against New Hyde Park, and Kennedy home to face Great Neck South. In Conference I, East Meadow will try to avenge a first-round playoff loss to Baldwin, while Oceanside puts its perfect record on the line against Uniondale.
