Oceanside/Island Park crime watch

Arrests

• Melissa Blas, 29, of Ozone Park, was arrested on Weidner Avenue in Oceanside on July 9 and charged with reckless driving.

• Paul Moscatiello, 36, of Jim Thorpe, PA, was arrested for driving without a license on July 7. According to police, Moscatiello was driving a 1987 Dodge with a PA license plate without a valid New York State driver’s license.

Criminal Mischief

• The side view mirror of a 2009 Hyundai was damaged on Weidner Avenue in Oceanside on July 7.

• The driver’s side door and the rear panel of a 2008 Mercedes were damaged by an unknown person on Carrel Boulevard in Oceanside on July 5.

• Three windows were damaged by a BB gun at School 4 in Oceanside on July 11.

Trespassing

• Two unknown male suspects entered Bridgeview Yacht Club in Island Park through an open kitchen door and looked through file cabinets and drawers on July 11.

Damage to Property

• The side view mirror of a 1992 Nissan was damaged on Weidner Avenue in Oceanside on July 7.

• The side window of a 2008 Acura was shattered on Lawson Boulevard in Oceanside on July 10.

Harassment

• A woman was slapped in the face by a female suspect known to her as “Yelly” during a verbal argument at La Rioja Restaurant, 4385 Austin Boulevard in Island Park, on July 11.

Larceny

• A 1997 Ford Taurus was taken from Long Beach Road in Island Park on June 22.

• A 2002 Ventura trailer that was parked in the rear parking lot of Lambrous Restaurant in Island Park was taken on July 8.

• The front window of a 2007 Toyota was shattered and a backpack containing money, jewelry, an iPod, a Chase Visa card, a driver’s license and a passport was taken at South Shore Fitness on Lawson Blvd in Oceanside on July 10.

• An unknown male suspect was observed breaking the window of a 2003 Dodge, reaching into the vehicle and taking unknown proceeds at South Nassau Communities Hospital in Oceanside on July 10.

• A Schwinn bicycle was taken from a driveway on Parma Road in Island Park on July 8.

• Two iPod Touches were taken from a bag at the Oceanside Pool on July 8.

• A dealer’s license plate was taken from a 2003 Mercedes on South Long Beach Road in Oceanside on July 7.
