Oceanside/Island Park crime watch

Arrests

  • Rose Montes, 33, of Island Park, was arrested and charged with shoplifting from CVS, 70 Atlantic Ave. in Oceanside, on July 16.


Assault

  • An unknown suspect yelled at one of the employees of Island Park Chinese Restaurant, 236 Long Beach Road in Island Park, on Aug. 1, and punched another employee in the face when he was asked to calm down.

Criminal Mischief

  • The passenger-side window was broken and a pocketbook was taken from a car parked at Pizzaiola Restaurant, 3191 Long Beach Road in Oceanside, on Aug. 5.
  • A vehicle was scratched and its tires were flattened at Oceanside High School, 3160 Skillman Ave. in Oceanside, on Aug. 3.
  • The front window was broken at Franklin Petroleum, 3362 Long Beach Road in Oceanside, on July 30.
  • The side door of a Brighton Road house was shattered by a stone on Aug. 5.


DWI

  • Lauren Czerminski, 22, of Glen Rock, NJ, was arrested on Austin Boulevard in Island Park on Aug. 4 for driving while intoxicated with a blood-alcohol content of .18 percent.


Harassment

  • A complainant was punched in the face by a known suspect during a verbal argument at Oceanside High School, 3160 Skillman Ave. in Oceanside, on Aug. 4.


Larceny

  • A black 2005 Subaru was taken from the driveway of a home on Wexford Lane in Oceanside on July 29.
  • Assorted jewelry was taken from a bedroom dresser of a home on Woods Avenue in Oceanside on July 12.


Graffiti

  • Graffiti was found on the playground and slide by a custodian at School 4, 3210 Oceanside Road in Oceanside, on July 21. A yellow swastika and "all jews fear this" was drawn in marker, and "goat and bush love gun" was written in block letters.


Larceny

  • CitiBank reported that two fraudulent company checks from Cousin Metal Industries, 460 Brown Court in Oceanside, were deposited with forged signatures on July 20.
  • A frequent female customer of Payless Shoes, 3074 Trinity Street in Oceanside, fraudulently tried to use a CitiBank credit card and accidentally dropped another four stolen credit cards upon leaving on July 24.
  • The bedroom window was open and a pocketbook containing money and a Social Security card was missing from the bedroom closet of a home on Pine Street in Oceanside on July 20.


Rape

  • A 44-year-old victim believes that she was drugged and raped by an unknown person at the Long Beach Motor Inn, 3915 Austin Boulevard in Island Park, on July 23. The Special Victims Squad is investigating.


Robbery

  • A 20-year-old victim was attacked from behind on Woods Avenue in Oceanside on July 30 by three unknown male suspects. The victim stated that the suspects removed his wallet, which contained a gift card, a driver's license, a college ID and money, and then fled the scene.


Unusual

  • A complainant stated that an unhappy customer of the Pain Management Center, 3 California Place South in Island Park, became verbally abusive when he had to wait for the refill of his medication on July 15.
