Experts on climate change will convene at Temple Avodah in Oceanside on June 13 at 7:30 p.m. for an informational seminar called “Climate Change: How Long Island Can Prepare for it.”

The panel discussion, presented by the synagogue’s Social Action Committee, will address the destructive impact of climate change and Long Island’s vulnerability. Panelists will offer their perspectives about local efforts, developing technologies, and individual actions that can protect homes, businesses, infrastructure, and Long Island’s long-term viability.

The event will be moderated by Neal Lewis, executive director of the Sustainability Institute at Molloy College. The panel will also feature Hofstra University Professor J. Bret Bennington, executive director of the Citizens Campaign for the Environment Adrienne Esposito, Beth Fiteni of Green Inside & Out, and Rosemary Mascali of Drive Electric-Long Island.

“Our esteemed moderator and panel of experts will address such important issues as the peril faced by continued reliance on fossil fuel and the promise that sustainable energy and conservation hold for all of our futures,” Social Action Committee member Caryle Katz said. “Climate change can be seen and felt every day all around us and affects people from all walks of life.”

The presentation will be held in-person and livestreamed. Register at office@avodah.org to obtain the livestream link. Masks are required for in-person attendees.
