Dinner with angels
The Long Beach Christmas Angel will hold its annual holiday dinner party at the Bridgeview Yacht Club in Island Park at 7:30 p.m. on Dec. 4. Tickets are $100 in advance and $125 at the door. Candlelight house tour
The Long Beach Island Landmarks Association will give candlelight house tours starting at the Long Beach Community Center, at 650 Magnolia Blvd., on Dec. 5 at 2 p.m. For information contact Martha Ross at 431-2140.

Quickbooks seminar
Business owners can learn the basics of Quickbooks and Quickbooks Online. Learn how to set up your company, create a chart of accounts with invoicing, payables, receivables, and how to manage your customers and vendors. Alice Leybengrub, a certified public accountant, is the instructor for this seminar at 7:30 p.m. on Nov. 19.

Intergeneration discussion group
The intergeneration discussion group, under the direction of Outreach Librarian Joan Yonish, will discuss the relationship of sisters in different family situations in “The First Desire” by Nancy Reisman on Nov. 20 at 1 p.m.

Learn about social media
Author Hilary Topper will lecture on the different uses of social media and how to use each tool to help create visibility and exposure for your business or product. Celebrating the lyricists of song
A good lyric tells a good story and a good story requires good music. Hear soprano Janet Hariton perform with music director Bill Lewis at the piano on Nov. 22 at 3 p.m. Numbers include: “Could It Be Love” by Pat Holley; “Now and Then” by Bernard Bierman; and “Like a Puzzle” by Roger Schore and Nancy Winston.
Ancient Chinese healing
Marianna Farina, Tai Chi and dance instructor, will lead you on a journey to peace and calmness on Nov. 24, Dec. 1 and 8 at 2 p.m. Chi Gong helps to restore energy flow, enhances the immune system and promotes relaxation.
Food for thought
The Long Beach Art League will hold an exhibit titled "Food, Glorious Food” from Nov. 29 to Jan. 1, 2010. This show will be judged by artist and teacher Ann Bragg, who will critique the works at the league’s general meeting on Dec. 2 at 7:30 p.m.
Fitness for older adults
Exercise physiologist Magda Rosenberg will conduct physical fitness routines for older adults on Fridays at 9 a.m.
Art show
The Long Beach Library’s West End branch, at 810 W. Beech Street, will have an art exhibit featuring the West End Arts group until year’s end. Library hours are Tuesday and Wednesday from 1 to 5 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. For information call 432-2704.

Lisa’s Latin express
Seniors can get fit and have fun with a great workout using Latin dance steps, such as the merengue, cha cha and salsa, with instructor Lisa Wisel on Nov. 19 at 9 a.m.
Music that makes you move
Movement to music is an enjoyable way to exercise and feel better. This action-oriented program, led by instructor Lisa Wisel, is suitable for all seniors. Class sessions are scheduled for Wednesdays at 1 p.m.
Art in your heart
Seniors are invited to join the Art in Your Heart Club on Thursdays in November from 1 to 3 p.m. Have fun learning or showing off your latest creation. Beginners and experienced artists are welcome.
Seated tai chi
Instructor Judith Weitz invites Long Beach seniors to join her program where seniors will tone and stretch all their muscles without putting stress on their knees, feet, thighs or back. Seated Tai Chi is scheduled on Thursdays starting at 11 a.m.
Sit and get fit
Seniors are invited to improve their health via exercises done sitting or standing next to a chair. Resistance bands, weights and small balls will be used. The sit and get fit program meets on Fridays at 11 a.m.

Turkey trot
The Rec will hold the annual Turkey Trot race on Nov. 22 starting on the boardwalk at Riverside Boulevard. There will be two races: a one mile for elementary through high school children and a 10K (6.2 mile) race. The one-mile race will begin at 9 a.m. and the 10K race at 9:30 a.m. The entrance fee for the one-mile run is $5 per student. The 10K run is $20 for pre-registrants and $25 on the day of the race. Santa is coming to town
The Rec will host its Annual Children’s Holiday Party on Dec. 12 at the Teen Center, above the Ice Arena, at Magnolia Boulevard and West Bay Drive, from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. This year‘s party will feature a visit from Santa Claus, holiday arts and crafts and a movie. There is a $5 fee per child to help support the Christmas Angel Fund, which supports children in the Long Beach School District. For information call 431-3890.
Adult exercise classes
The Rec is offering two courses for adults this fall: a yoga-pilates class and a boot camp to be held in the Teen Center (above the Ice Arena) at Magnolia Boulevard on the bay on weekday evenings and weekend mornings. Registration fee for each class is $50 for City of Long Beach residents, $100 for non-Long Beach residents.
