Prayer and music
St. Ignatius Church, at 721 W.Broadway, will hold a time for common prayer, reflection and music by the choir that included the choral works by Beethoven at 5 p.m. on Nov. 29.
Dinner with angels
The Long Beach Christmas Angel will hold its annual holiday dinner party at the Bridgeview Yacht Club in Island Park at 7:30 p.m. on Dec. 4. Tickets are $100 in advance and $125 at the door. Candlelight house tour
The Long Beach Island Landmarks Association will give candlelight house tours starting at the Long Beach Community Center, at 650 Magnolia Blvd., on Dec. 5 at 2 p.m. For information contact Martha Ross at 431-2140.
Chanukah mall
Young Israel of Long Beach, at 120 Long Beach Blvd., will hold a Chanukah mall from 7 to 10 p.m. on Dec. 2. There will be variety of vendors for children women and men, as well as a food court. ed system
Is your child newly diagnosed as having special educational needs? Trying to figure out the meaning of the alphabet soup of terminology? Stache bash
The Long Island Chapter of Mustaches For Kids will hold a “Stache Bash” at the Tiki Bar, at 832 W. Beech Street in Long Beach, from 5 to 9 p.m. on Dec. 12. Christmas party
Catholic Daughters of The America's in Long Beach will have a Christmas party at the Fisherman’s Catch restaurant on Bayside Drive in Point Lookout from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Dec. 13. Food for thought
The Long Beach Art League will hold an exhibit titled "Food, Glorious Food” from Nov. 29 to Jan. 1, 2010. This show will be judged by artist and teacher Ann Bragg, who will critique the works at the league’s general meeting on Dec. 2 at 7:30 p.m.
Fitness for older adults
Exercise physiologist Magda Rosenberg will conduct physical fitness routines for older adults on Fridays at 9 a.m.
Art show
The Long Beach Library’s West End branch, at 810 W. Beech Street, will have an art exhibit featuring the West End Arts group until year’s end. Library hours are Tuesday and Wednesday from 1 to 5 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. For information call 432-2704.
Dating: A spiritual approach
No matter what your age, dating is a roller coaster of ups and downs. Unfortunately, many people decide to give up the ride rather then risk another perilous experience. This seminar led by Constance Hallinan Lagan encourages looking at each meeting as an adventure. It consists of lecture, meditation, and question-and-answer period on Nov. 28 at 2 p.m.

Yelena and Vladimir Polezhayev are celebrating the 200th birthday anniversary of the brilliant romantic composer Felix Mendelssohn and the 100th birthday anniversary of the great musical humorist Victor Borge at 2 p.m. on Nov. 29.

We all experience seasonal changes within our bodies. Joyce Smolkin, certified health counselor, will discuss the changing physiological effect the moon and sun have on our bodies and minds. Join her to develop a better understanding of changes you might be experiencing at 2:30 p.m. on Dec. 3.
Hearing screenings
Adelphi University’s community outreach program consists of free hearing screenings for adults and children of all ages from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Dec. 4.
Resources for singles
In this busy and hectic world, singles find that earning a living and tending to career and personal responsibilities drains them of the energy required to find fulfillment. Learn about the myriad opportunities available to single people in this discussion, sharing and question-and-answer segments, led by Constance Hallinan Logan at 2 p.m. on Dec. 5.
Borscht Belt to Broadway
Few performers have the right combination of rhythm, voice and comedic timing to pull off this type of show flawlessly. Warren Schein combines a fantastic collection from the Great American Songbook, Broadway musicals and comedic routines from the heyday of the Catskill hotel circuit. His program is a 2 p.m. on Dec. 6.
Healing the Chinese way
Tai Chi and dance instructor Marianna Farina will lead you on a journey to peace and calmness at 2 p.m. on Dec. 8 at 2 p.m.
Communications course

Music that makes you move
Movement to music is an enjoyable way to exercise and feel better. This action-oriented program, led by instructor Lisa Wisel, is suitable for all seniors. Class sessions are scheduled for Wednesdays at 1 p.m.
League party
The Long Beach League of Women will hold a holiday party at the senior center at 7 p.m. on Dec. 14. People who are interested in becoming a member in the league are invited and have to bring a dish to pass and non-perishable food for the less fortunate.
Art in your heart
Seniors are invited to join the Art in Your Heart Club on Thursdays in November from 1 to 3 p.m. Have fun learning or showing off your latest creation. Beginners and experienced artists are welcome.
Seated tai chi
Instructor Judith Weitz invites Long Beach seniors to join her program where seniors will tone and stretch all their muscles without putting stress on their knees, feet, thighs or back. Seated Tai Chi is scheduled on Thursdays starting at 11 a.m.
Sit and get fit
Seniors are invited to improve their health via exercises done sitting or standing next to a chair. Resistance bands, weights and small balls will be used. The sit and get fit program meets on Fridays at 11 a.m.  
Get strong and stretched
Gain strength, flexibility and balance through a series of resistance exercises in this challenging program. Bring weights, a yoga mat and resistance band on Tuesdays Dec. 1, 8 and 15 on 1 p.m.
Take better digital photos
Do you have a digital camera and would like to learn how to use it? Professional photographer Scott Evers will conduct the workshops on Wednesdays, Dec. 2 and 9 at 1p.m.

Santa is coming to town
The Rec will host its Annual Children’s Holiday Party on Dec. 12 at the Teen Center, above the Ice Arena, at Magnolia Boulevard and West Bay Drive, from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. This year‘s party will feature a visit from Santa Claus, holiday arts and crafts and a movie. There is a $5 fee per child to help support the Christmas Angel Fund, which supports children in the Long Beach School District. For information call 431-3890.
