Nassau County police arrested a Long Beach man after he allegedly committed robberies in Hempstead and Freeport, including one last week in which he and others robbed two men at gunpoint.

Police said 23-year-old Jamar Felder, of E. Pine St., entered the Mabel Food Market at 21 Stewart Ave. in Hempstead on Jan. 19 just before 10 p.m. Along with two other suspects, police said Felder displayed a silver handgun and removed an undetermined amount of cash from the register — and even helped himself to a box of cigars.

Felder and the other men, who have yet to be apprehended, allegedly fled the scene in an unknown direction, police said.

On Wednesday, Feb. 1, at 10 p.m., police said Felder, again with help from two others, approached two men, ages 19 and 21, in front of 188 Whaley Street in Freeport and demanded money. One of the suspects had a black handgun and the other brandished a silver revolver, police said, while Felder allegedly proceeded to take a wallet containing cash and personal papers, along with a cell phone from the victims.

After a joint investigation by detectives with the NCPD’s robbery squad and first and the third squads, Felder was arrested on Cooper Street in Hempstead without incident.

Felder was charged with four counts of first-degree robbery and two counts of first-degree criminal use of a firearm. He was arraigned on Feb. 8 at First District Court in Hempstead.
