Care package donations needed 

The Long Beach Waterfront Warriors is teaming up with the Long Beach V.F.W., St. Ignatius Roman Catholic Church, Long Beach Catholic School and the Long Beach School District to prepare care packages for military enlisted Long Beach residents who are serving overseas during the holidays. Residents who are interested in donating items can bring them to the V.F.W., at 675 W. Park Ave., every day between 2 and 9 p.m. until the first week in December. Care packages must be mailed by Dec. 11 in order to be delivered by Christmas. Monetary donations, which will help pay for shipping, can be made payable to LBWW. For more information visit

Parking permits on sale

Parking permits for City of Long Beach residents for 2010 will go on sale starting Dec. 14 in the clerk’s office at City Hall between 9 .m. and 5 p.m. Special evening hours have been scheduled to purchase the permits in the clerk’s office on Dec. 16 from 5 to 7 p.m. The cost is $10. Join the stash bash

The Long Island Chapter of Mustaches For Kids will hold a “Stache Bash” at the Tiki Bar, at 832 W. Beech Street in Long Beach, from 5 to 9 p.m. on Dec. 12. This is the chapter’s end of the season gala and a main fundraiser in which awards are given for mustaches of distinction. Mustaches For Kids is a chapter of a national volunteer-run organization which started in 1999 to help the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

Checks should be made out to MSKCC. Sloan-Kettering will send a receipt for tax purposes to anyone making a donation by check. Anyone interested in growing a stache or donating can contact Billy at billykup@gmail.com.
