The Long Beach Board of Education will hold a meeting on May 25 and June 8 at 7:30 p.m. at the middle school.

n East School will hold its annual Variety Show on May 26 at 6 p.m.

Awards night

n LBHS: The high school will hold its annual Academic Awards Night on June 3 at 7 p.m.

n High Sports Awards: LBHS will hold its Spring Sports Awards Night on June 9 at 7 p.m.

n Middle School Awards Night: LBMS will hold its Grade 8 Academic Awards Night on June 10 at 7 p.m.

Don't text while driving and win a concert

Long Beach High School students Geoff Noss and Shawn Bochner are rallying their classmates to take the Don't Text and Drive pledge to help save lives and to win a private concert with pop sensation Jason Derulo.

The contest is hosted by Verizon and local pop radio station, Z100, and will run until May 28.

Long Beach High School students must sign up at z100.com and become a ZVIP member before making the pledge to not text or use a cell phone while driving. After signing up, students enter “Long Beach Senior High School” and their pledge of yes.

The school with the highest percentage of participants compared to overall enrollment will win a concert with the star on June 14.
