Scavenger hunt takes over Long Beach

Posted

Over 200 people comprising 44 teams raced through the streets of Long Beach on Oct. 24 for a citywide scavenger hunt meant to test residents’ knowledge of their hometown. The city partnered with local businesses and cityHUNT — a company that specializes in group team building and adventures — to host the hunt utilizing a custom mobile app.

Clues encouraged participants to visit locations along Park Avenue as well as the West End and the beach while trolleys provided free transportation as they navigated the city. The goal of the event was to draw participants into specific areas of the city where they could engage with their community in fun new ways while patronizing local businesses and stimulating the economy.

Team “Grand Beach Candy” took home first place and won a Puerto Rican vacation, JetBlue travel vouchers and surfing and water sports provided by Skudin Surf. Second-prize winners “Bad Woman” received gift cards from Bethpage Federal Credit Union and Gino’s for each of its members as well as tickets to the Broadway play “Sylvia.” “Car Ramrod” finished up third and took home Bethpage Federal Credit Union and Brixx & Barley gift cards as well.
