A commitment to help
Rockville Centre residents Robert and Lorraine Reardon were honored earlier this month for their ongoing commitment to helping homeless families. On Nov. 5, New Ground hosted its 9th annual Groundbreakers’ Celebration at Carlyle on the Green in Bethpage State Park, where the couple was among those receiving honors.
New Ground is a unique not-for-profit agency committed to educating and empowering families as well as individuals who were once caught in the vicious cycle of homelessness. Founded in 1991, New Ground recognizes that the key to solving homelessness is not only to help the families who are homeless, but also work at preventing it in the future. The organization identifies and responds to families-at-risk through intensive case management programs that provide educational, technical and emotional support.
