Anything that floats in Rockville Centre

Posted

South Side High School’s Engineering Club competed in the Anything That Floats Race in Oyster Bay on June 5. The event presented a creative challenge for the students to use anything they could find that has been recycled. Teachers Joseph Saccone and Todd Russo guided the students who chose to use the Greased Lightning car they built for this year’s Centre Stage production (“Slick”) along with recycled buckets and duct tape. Several students teamed up to navigate their craft from the beach, turning around several buoys and returning to the beach after crossing the finish line between two floating buoys to take third place overall.
