A motor vehicle collision Wednesday morning sent a car through the glass storefront of Saltano’s Pizzeria at the northwest corner of Merrick Road and North Park Avenue in Rockville Centre.
According to village officials, the Rockville Centre Police Department was notified of the crash at approximately 9:02 a.m. The collision involved a 2003 Toyota sedan operated by a Fresh Meadows resident and a 2017 Honda operated by a Freeport resident.
The Honda struck the building at the northwest corner of the intersection, entering through the pizzeria’s plate-glass storefront.
The two occupants of the Honda and the sole occupant of the Toyota were transported to a local hospital for treatment of minor injuries, according to police.
No criminality is suspected.
The Building Department responded to the scene and determined that the collision damaged the plate glass and window framing. There was no damage to the building’s structural support pillars.
The crash was the second accident at the corner in less than a month. On Aug. 20, a vehicle involved in a collision at the same intersection struck and knocked down a light pole on the Merrick Road sidewalk outside Saltano’s Pizzeria.
