Village resident Sasha Reiber, a sophomore at Illinois State University who is the goal keeper for the school’s woman’s soccer team, was designated the “defensive player of the week” in the Missouri Valley Conference for the week ending Oct. 19. This is the fourth time in less than two years that Sasha received this designation.

Prior to attending Illinois State, Sasha played for the Rockville Centre Royals, coached by Peter Bralower, and started on three of South Side High School’s Cyclones State Championship teams, coached by Judi Croutier, playing twice in midfield and once in goal. Sasha is the daughter of Jill Anderson Reiber and Barry Reiber.
