Encouraging a love for reading

Posted

Mayor Francis Murray spent a recent morning with the children of United Church Nursery School. He read Dr Seuss’s classic, “Green Eggs and Ham.” The children sat around the mayor and enjoyed every minute of it. After reading the story he told the wide-eyed 2,3, and 4-year-olds about his job on College Place. They were very excited to learn that he is a volunteer firefighter as well as an ambulance driver. The mayor patiently listened to stories about their families and pets and did not leave until all their questions were answered. The staff of the school thanked the mayor for taking time out of his busy schedule to be with their students.
