John E. Schaefer, 93

Former Rockville Centre resident John E. Schaefer, Sr., died on April 13. He was 93.

Loving brother of the late Lawrence Walter, Sr. Beloved husband of Mary D. (Lucas), father of John Jr. (Janet), Robert L. (Pan), James K. and Mary E. Stabenfeldt (Dave). Also survived by 11 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. Born in Blue Point, longtime resident of Oceanside and Noyac.

U.S. Army Veteran of WWII. A First Lieutenant serving in the Pacific Theatre. Retired Vice President of JP Morgan Chase, after a 40 year career that began at The Bank of Rockville Centre Trust Company. He graduated from South Side High School when it was on Hillside Avenue (in the current Middle School). Trustee Emeritus of Molloy College and Founder Member of Noyac Golf and Country Club. A lifelong passion for golf, also a member of the Rockville Links, he had four hole-in-ones. Buried in Calverton National Cemetery.
