Morgan J. Murray, 93

Long time Rockville Centre resident Morgan J. Murray died on the evening of Dec. 3 after a long illness.

The brother of former Mayor Eugene J. Murray, and the son of William J. Murray and Ciara Josephine Murray, Morgan was one of 13 children.

A graduate of Chaminade High School, Morgan served in Italy as a first lieutenant in the Army during World War II. After the war, he took a job at Bankers Trust where he remained for his entire career.

Morgan’s extensive involvement with the parish of St. Agnes spanned 90 years. It included participation in the Holy Name Society, serving as treasurer of the St. Agnes parish party for 30 years and as Scout Master for Boy Scout Troop 163. After retiring, Morgan also served as the business manager of St. Agnes for several years.

He was predeceased by his wife, Dorothea G. and survived by brothers William J., Matthew T., John J., Arthur J., Eugene J., Paul J., Edward T. and Thomas M., as well as sisters Sr. Mary Louise, Madeline Shelley, Rose Marie Ryan and Ann Walsh. Morgan leaves behind five children — Morgan, Joanne Riddle, John, Mary Balducci and Patricia Johnson, 13 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

His family asks that any donations in his name be sent to the St. Agnes Parish Outreach.
