Amityville man found dead from gunshot wound in Wantagh

A man was found dead from a gunshot wound early Wednesday morning on Wayside Lane in Wantagh, according to the Nassau County Police Department.

Officers responded to the scene at around 12:13 a.m., on Sept. 11, after receiving a call about an aided individual. When they arrived, they discovered the person on the side of the road with a gunshot wound, police said.

The man, identified as 32-year-old Yinauri Taveras, was pronounced dead at the scene.  According to police, Taveras was originally from Amityville, but had recently been splitting time between Westbury and Puerto Rico.

The investigation is ongoing, and no further information has been released at this time.
