Rockville Centre brothers raise money for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital

Steven Lupo, 11, and his younger brother Michael, 9, of Warwick Road held a yard sale on June 24 to raise money for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. The boys and some of their closest friends worked hard to get the word out, handing out flyers, sending emails and posting signs around the village to advertise the sale. They also went through their entire house gathering items and coordinating donations of items to sell and raffle off from friends and neighbors. In all, they raised $1,100 for St. Jude.

The Lupo brothers were lucky to have such supportive friends who worked with them to set up and assist at the sale. They included Kaitlyn Andorfer, Kyle Conneely, Michael Dotzler, Sean Moran, Liam Leonard, Kailey McCarthy, as well as the O’Sullivan sisters, Erin, Kaitlin, Mary, and Anna.

The boys and their friends learned a valuable lesson about helping others that can hopefully get passed along to others in our community: they proved that with a little effort and teamwork, anyone can make a difference in helping those in need.
