Put their best paws forward On April 6 from 10 a.m. - 11 a.m. the Rec Center will hold its annual pet show for children. Bring your pet dog, cat, gerbil, lizard, bird, etc. to be judged for the smallest, largest, most talented... Ribbons will be awarded in various categories. Spectators are welcome. There is no fee, but registration is required. Pictured above is Jennifer Jiminez, who worked to ensure her Yorkshire Terrier was perfectly coiffed for the event last year.

Comedy Central presents...two from South Side High School Two of South Side High School’s illustrious graduates, four-time Emmy award winning writer Rory Albanese, who is the executive producer of "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart," and comedienne, actor and writer Amy Schumer, who was one of the Last Comics Standing, will appear on back-to-back half hour shows this Friday, April 2 on Comedy Central. Rory goes first — his show is at 11 p.m. — followed immediately by Amy who appears from 11:30 to midnight.

Senior softball

Senior softball players are wanted for Tuesday and Friday “pick-up” games at Lister Field in Rockville Centre, starting April 2 through November, from 9 a.m. to noon. For more information call Bob Simmons at (516) 764-1011 or (516) 984-9346.

Limoge box exhibit

Small boxes have been used for centuries to contain cosmetics, beauty patches, hair, powder, salves, jewelry and many other uses.These small treasures were made of all sorts of material. The Rockville Centre Museum has the Mr.& Mrs. Michael J. Gibbons collection of handpainted porcelain limoge boxes acquired in Paris on display at the Phillips House Museum, 28 Hempstead Ave. through May 2. Also included are contemporary Faberge Eggs produced at the Faberge Factory by selected artists and Russian Lacquered boxes.The museum is open on Saturdays and Sundays from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. There is no charge for admission, but donations are always welcome.Call Frank Seipp at (5160 764-7459 for more information.

Fortnightly Club meeting

On April 6 the Fortnightly Club will host a book discussion of author Tatiana de Rosnay's work, "Sarah's Key." Refreshments will be served after the discussion. The meeting will start at 1:30 p.m. at St.Mark's Methodist Church on Hempstead Avenue.
