Arrests

Thomas Waicul, 37, of W. Fulton Street, Long Beach was arrested on Dec. 19 at 6:45 a.m. and charged with burglary and criminal possession of stolen property. Police said they recovered stolen items after a witness noticed a suspicious-looking person near the home on DeMott Avenue. After a short chase, police say they caught the suspect who has an extensive arrest record for burglary.

Burglary

On Dec. 25, at 10:10 p.m., a Roxen Road resident reported to police that between Dec. 21 at 1 p.m. and the time of the report, someone entered the home and removed two televisions, jewelry, a camera and a laptop computer. Rockville Centre police and Nassau County 1st Squad detectives are investigating.

Attempted burglaries

On Dec. 25 at 6:46 p.m., police say they responded to a burglar alarm at an Allen Road residence and discovered that a rear door had been damaged by an unknown person. Rockville Centre police and Nassau County 1st Squad detectives are investigating.

At 12:20 p.m. on Dec. 27, a Woods Avenue homeowner told police that someone cut the screen on a rear window near the driveway sometime between Dec. 25 at 1 p.m. and Dec. 27 at 11:30 a.m. Rockville Centre police and Nassau County 1st Squad detectives are investigating.

Larcenies

An Arleigh Road homeowner reported that someone removed a leather jacket and car key from his car while it was parked in his drivew

A S. Kensington Avenue woman told police that someone used her New York Community Bank debit card without her knowledge or permission between Dec. 9 and 15.

On Dec. 17 at 7:10 p.m., a S. Park Avenue resident reported to police that she received a telephone call from an unidentified person attempting to extort money from her. Rockville Centre police and Nassau County 1st Squad detectives are investigating.

On Dec. 19, the manager of a Sunrise Highway car dealership reported to police that eight side view mirrors, valued at $2,800 had been stolen.

At 2:50 p.m. on Dec. 26, a woman from N. Marion Place told police that her wallet was removed from her pocketbook which had been hanging on the back of a chair while she was at a Sunrise Highway Rockville Centre pub the previous night.

Criminal mischief

On Dec. 23, a vehicle parked in front of 326 Sunrise Highway was reported to police as damaged by unknown means.

On Dec. 26 at 11:50 a.m., the manager of a Maple Avenue hair salon reported finding the glass door to the business damaged by unknown means.

On Dec. 27, a woman told police that she found two flat tires on her vehicle, caused by unknown means, that was parked in front of 472 Merrick Road.
