The Rockville Centre Public Library has been hosting a weekly interactive session, Mad Science. The Girl Scout Gold Award program of Gabrielle DiFiore, children in grades 2 through 5 who attend get to delve into a different topic each week. They watch a video, or listen as a book is read to them,
and then they get to complete their own experiment relating to the topic.
The kids clearly enjoyed getting a hands-on experience with science. One week the children made baking soda volcanoes; another week they made Ooblek, a substance with both solid and liquid properties. Mad Science has helped foster an early love for both
science and exploration.
