Rockville Centre school, library races will be uncontested

It's official: candidates turn in petitions for May 17 board and budget vote

Two residents of the Rockville Centre school district have announced their intention to run for the Board of Education. They returned completed nominating petitions to the district clerk by Monday — which was the deadline for filing.

The pair of school board candidates are Mayda Kramer, the co-PTA president of South Side High School and Gregg Spaulding, who will seek re-election to his trustee position for a full term, after filling the seat vacated by Kathy Horace for a term that runs through the end of June. Current school board Vice President Stephen Kriss is not seeking re-election.

At the library, incumbent Trustee William S. Murray Jr. is seeking a full third term and will run unopposed. Murray is no relation to Francis X. Murray who is a candidate for mayor of Rockville Centre, or to Hempstead Town Supervisor Kate Murray.

The Herald will include profiles of each of the candidates in subsequent election coverage.
