Rockville Centre's 'win-win' project

Posted

Xavier Sagar, a South Side High School senior and vice president of the school’s Military History Club, is pictured with some of the bottles he collects weekly from Rockville Centre schools. He has founded “Recycling for Veterans Causes,” and recycled thousands of bottles for five cents each and donated the hundreds of dollars refunded to The Wounded Warrior Project to aid veterans. With this “win-win” effort, Xavier has been instrumental in both caring for the environment and raising money for a worthy cause — without soliciting for donations.

For his part, Xavier extended a hearty “thank you” to the building principals and custodians for allowing him access to their schools and supporting his efforts. He encourages all students and staff members to continue to recycle their plastic bottles and cans in the appropriate containers in their schools to ensure the success of this program.
