Rockville Centre resident and FDNY first repsonder Anthony Egan has been recognized as a gold-level indirect authorized trainer by the Center for Domestic Prepardness.

The CDP identifies, develops, tests and delivers training to state, local and tribal emergency response providers. They provide on-site and mobile training at the performance, management and planning levels and facilitate the delivery of training by the partners of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.

In order to become an indirect authorized trainer for the CDP, a responder must successfully complete an intense “train the trainer” course, which provides insight into adult learning, presentation and delivery styles, and course material regarding specific topics important to those serving in emergency response. Graduates of the program are now prepared to deliver training in their jurisdictions, for which they receive ongoing administrative support and certification from the CDP.

“It is truly an honor and privilege to train the men and women who every day go out and protect us from natural and man-made disasters,” he said.

Egan, a 16-year resident of Rockville Centre, has been an active member of Engine 274 of the FDNY since 2002 and trained as a second-level hazardous materials technician. Before that, he was an emergency medical technician from 1988 to 1995.

Egan has a bachelor’s degree in finance from Iona College, an associate’s degree in nursing from the St. John Campus of St. Vincent’s Catholic Medical Center of New York and a master’s degree in nursing administration and informatics at Molloy College.
