Salsa Mexicana opens its doors

Art Gustafson, the owner of Chadwick’s American Chophouse and Bar and partner in Tony Colombos, is opening a new dining venture in Rockville Centre — Salsa Mexicana.

Located at 13A North Village Ave., Salsa Mexicana is the latest Mexican restaurant to hit the village.

“It is a beautiful amalgamation of modern and classic Mexican food, with a chef’s approach to drinks,” Gustafson said. “It’s the kind of menu that you wont’ be able to find 80 percent of the other Mexican restaurants in town.”

The restaurant’s menu features items like duck carnitas tacos, paella burritos, Aztec casseroles and more. Gustafson is also planning to roll out an Upper East Side-style brunch in the near future.

“In our desire to put out a high-quality Mexican restaurant, we decided to match our other restaurant’s quality,” Gustafson said. “Mexican is one of my favorite cuisines. This was a combination of wanting to do it and finding the perfect space for it, which we did.”

Salsa Mexicana is open at noon daily, with Happy Hour specials from 5-7 p.m. Monday through Friday.
