Queens man arrested in Nassau County burglary spree

According to police, a Queens man was arrested on May 5 at 9:15 p.m. in connection with a series of residential burglaries across Nassau County.


The Nassau County Police Department’s Major Case Squad reports, Mario Hurtado Galindo, 37, of 178-19 147th Ave. in Queens, allegedly unlawfully entered multiple homes in New Hyde Park, Westbury, Bethpage, Woodmere and Roslyn Heights.


Police said that once inside the residences, he removed assorted jewelry, designer handbags and U.S. currency. Authorities located Hurtado Galindo and placed him under arrest without incident.


Hurtado Galindo is charged with six counts of second-degree burglary and six counts of third-degree criminal mischief. Police said he also has an outstanding arrest warrant for burglary out of Richmond, Texas.


Further investigation revealed that Hurtado Galindo is in the United States unlawfully and is subject to removal proceedings, according to police.


He was arraigned at First District Court in Hempstead on May 6.
