Long Island Restaurant Week Nov. 1 to 8, celebrating 20 years

Long Island Restaurant Week will celebrate 20 years of bringing diners and local restaurants together with its fall promotion from Nov. 1 through Nov. 8, offering prix fixe meals at participating restaurants across Nassau and Suffolk counties.

The tri-annual dining promotion gives diners an opportunity to try new restaurants, revisit longtime favorites and enjoy specially priced meals while supporting local businesses. Participating restaurants can offer a $25 two-course lunch or a $30, $40 or $48 three-course dinner. Each restaurant chooses which options to offer, and menus must provide multiple choices for each course.

The promotion runs Sunday through Sunday. Participating restaurants must offer their selected prix fixe menus throughout their operating hours during the promotion, although Saturday dinner prix fixe menus may be offered only until 7 p.m. Lunch options include an appetizer and entrée or an entrée and dessert, while dinner menus include an appetizer, entrée and dessert.

Diners can find participating restaurants, review menus and learn more about the promotion at LongIslandRestaurantweek.com.

To mark the anniversary, organizers are expanding the promotion's gift card giveaway. Twenty winners will each receive a $100 gift card to a participating restaurant of their choice. The sweepstakes runs from Oct. 26 through Nov. 9. To enter, diners must visit the website and complete the online entry form during the entry period.

Since its launch in 2006, Long Island Restaurant Week has also supported local charities and food banks, donating more than $40,000 to Long Island organizations. Among its beneficiaries is The INN, the Interfaith Nutrition Network, which provides food and shelter to people experiencing hunger, homelessness and poverty. The promotion has donated more than $10,000 to the organization over the years.

“Reaching 20 years is an incredible milestone for Long Island Restaurant Week and a testament to the restaurants and diners who have supported the promotion year after year,” Nicole Castillo of Long Island Restaurant & Hospitality Group, said in a news release.

Cynthia Sucich, chief operating officer of The INN, said the donations have helped support programs that feed and shelter people in need while raising awareness of food insecurity in local communities.

Long Island Restaurant Week began as an annual fall promotion before expanding to include a spring event in 2011 and a winter event in 2016 in response to demand from diners and restaurateurs.
