Free Shredding Day This Saturday, June 18 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., Astoria Federal’s Rockville Centre branch will provide free, secure paper-shredding services for the community, making it easier to safely dispose of documents containing personal or sensitive information. Suitable items for shredding include pay stubs from previous tax years, year-old bank statements, credit card applications and statements, and any documents with social security numbers, signatures, private contact information or personal pin numbers. Shredding is limited to eight boxes of confidential documents per person. The documents will be shredded on site and then be properly recycled by Cintas Document Management. The event will take place in the Astoria Federal Savings parking lot at 339 Merrick Road, rain or shine. For more information, call Rockville Centre Branch Manager Ingrid Davidson at (516) 764-7812.
