The New York State Supreme Court has ruled in favor of the attorney who represents the Lawrence School District, reversing the state comptroller's determination that he should be removed from its pension system. Following the Aug. 20 decision, the state must repay the lawyer’s missed pension payments within 30 days and reinstate him in the state retirement system.

An Aug. 24 concert at Lawrence High School celebrated the memory of Christopher Keen, a member of the class of 2007 and a cellist in the high school’s music program, who died on July 22. On what would have been Keen’s 20th birthday, teachers and students performed songs like “Amazing Grace” and “Over the Rainbow.”
