I’d like to know why Lynbrook resident Bob Barra was appointed and confirmed to be Valley Stream village clerk. This should not be legal. Our mayor and trustees have sent the message that no one in this village is more capable to do the job than a Lynbrook guy best known for bringing coffee to Dean Skelos.  more
This Hewlett Heights saga should not even be a topic of conversation. I am a resident of Valley Stream. Though I do not live in Gibson myself, I have grown up knowing the area very well and, additionally, have good friends who live there. To really get into the crux of the situation I would like to start from the beginning. more
Both District 13 and the Central High School District are in need of new superintendents. The new governor has had much to say about Long Island (124 districts) superintendents’ income as compared to his, $179,000 per year. It will be interesting to see if our boards are influenced in the least by his comments and suggestions. The superintendents’ union threaten to all leave the Island if those caps ($175,000 per year) are put in place. more

This is in response to “Legislators Listen to the Community,” March 17-23. Nobody wants more taxes, especially the wealthy who lobby our elected officials with fury. And the rich have gotten everything they’ve asked for. more
Joe Margolin, Carol Crupi and Mike LoCascio who are running in this election under the Citizens Independence Party have been working tirelessly for the residents of Gibson affected by the recent change to the flood zones by FEMA. more
I grew up in Valley Steam (as did all of my large immediate family) and returned after college. Now, as a renter looking to invest in a home in this community, I am concerned with the same issues that have been discussed by the candidates running for local office. more
