On behalf of numerous fellow Valley Streamers, I’d like to say “thank you” to Sen. Charles Schumer now that we’ve endured Hurricane Irene without experiencing flooding.  more
I have recently had the opportunity to read two items with messages from Mayor Ed Fare of the incorporated Village of Valley Stream. The items are the 2011-12 Valley Stream Almanac and Newcomer’s Guide and The Village Green, the official newsletter of the village. more
To the Editor: I read “LIPA chief tours storm-ravaged south Merrick” by Scott Brinton (Sept. 8-14) with interest. In the story, Brinton mentions backup of storm drains. I believe that more … more
I am a resident of the Gibson area in Valley Stream that the Federal Emergency Management Agency mandated flood insurance. I do believe that we have had that 100-year storm that FEMA officials contend would flood out our area of Valley Stream. more

We waste gas and time looking for a parking spot, only to walk around aimlessly trying to find what we need and then wait on a long line to pay for our purchases. more
Our chamber publicly expresses its deep and sincere thanks to the participants, and the Valley Stream community at large, for the significance and success of the Ed Cahill Memorial dedication ceremony on July 31. more
