Halloween bash Rockville Centre students and their guests in grades 9-12 are invited to a Halloween bash, sponsored by the RVC Youth Council on Oct. 29 at SportSet, 40 Maple Ave. The evening starts at 8 p.m. with refreshments and at 9 p.m. “Ghostbusters” will be shown. There is a charge of $5 per person at the door. For more information, email events@rvcyouthcouncil.org.

Hundreds of Chamber of Commerce members from chapters throughout Nassau County gathered last Friday to honor the people who make up the economic backbone of the county. Because you care: Walk for Substance Use Awareness Join the annual Substance Use Awareness Walk, a 1.5-mile community walk for all ages in the Skelos Sports Complex this Sunday, Oct. 17. Registration starts at 9:30 a.m., welcoming remarks will be at 10 a.m., followed by the walk. The event, which is sponsored and supported by Rockville Centre’s Drug and Alcohol Task Force, school district, Council of PTA’s, Youth Council, village and Confide Counseling, encourages the youth of the community to stay alcohol and drug free.
